Downloader button appears with youtube video but download fails-no error

Downloader button shows youtube video to download but after hitting download nothing happens. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Realplayer a couple of times with no success. none of the other suggestions work.. When I use File:open: and paste video url it opens youtube but shows the old downloader at top of video. I also have to sign in to youtube again even though I'm signed in(also tells me to get chrome which I already have). Any suggestions would be welcome for I'm about to give up on Realplayer
