It didn't start today. It has happened previously over the years but in recent weeks the issue came back for everyone trying to use it on YouTube. A few days ago, it started working again and was working until mid morning today for everyone.

I am also not able to download videos from YouTube anymore. In the past few years there were, every now and then. also problems downloading those videos. But now this problem has surfaced again.

I have the same issue on my laptop, it is using windows 10. I have another computer and it uses windows 11. I tried all day to download from the laptop and get the same message, the tool at the top of my you tube page will drop down blue, But on the other computer using windows 11, the drop down comes with the typical tan coloring, and it did download the same pages i tried on the laptop and were unsucessful. For hours I have been trying to figure this out and I am done with it for now. HELL.

It would be nice if someone from the customer support department would let people know why Realplayer will no longer download Youtube videos. It is 3/31/25, and for the last several days, I have been unable to download Youtube videos, and Realplayer does not provide any customer support contact info. Instead, subscribers have to rely on other community members to come up with a solution. Freemake is also unable to paste the URL of Youtube. My Realplayer is up to date. So, this is not the issue. When you click on the Realplayer icon, it starts to download the Youtube video and then states "Unable to download".

REAL PLAYER (RP) issued an update for their download program some days ago. This program is separate from the main RP program. Open the main GUI of RP and select "Check for update". Then you will be able to download & install the part of the program that takes care of downloading videos (e.g. from YouTube). It worked for me.

My Realplayer is up to date. That doesn't seem to be the issue. But, thanks for your input.

I use the latest version of RP ( v24.0.2.308) as well but yet I was able to update the component ("videodl.exe" ????) using the "check for Update" option. Odd, very odd that it doesn't work for you.

By the way, Norton blocked Realplayer out of nowhere. It was not blocking Realplayer before. It must have done this during an automatic update, without asking me.

As of 4/6/2025 Realplayer is not downloading Youtube videos again. This time Norton antivirus has nothing to do with it.

No, I just downloaded and installed the newest update and all is / seems to be back to normal. Downloading videos form YouTube works again.
