Unable to trim or convert VOB or MPEG-2 files

I'm trying to use the RealPlayer Converter to trim or convert VOB or MPEG-2 files, but I can't get it to work. Why not?

The Trimmer feature is currently not compatible with .vob files. Also, we're aware that converting from a .vob or MPEG-2 (.mpg, .mpeg, .m2v, .mp2) file will sometimes cause the Converter to crash.

When trying to convert a VOB or MPEG-2 file, if you see a pop-up window asking you to upgrade to RealPlayer 18 Plus when you have already purchased it, try this solution:

1. Insert a commercially-produced DVD (in other words, a movie you have bought or rented) and play it in RealPlayer.

2. RealPlayer should then download an additional codec (software component) that it needs to play DVDs. Once the DVD playback codec is installed, you will be able to convert the file as long as it is not copyright-protected.

3. As soon as the additional component has finished downloading and the DVD starts playing, you can stop the playback.

4. Try to convert the file again.
