Why do I get an "Invalid Socket Error" in RealPlayer, and what can I do about it?
An "invalid socket error" is usually generated when you are behind a firewall.
If you are using firewall software, such as Norton, McAfee, Zone Alarm, etc., you will need to ensure that the program rules are set to allow RealPlayer access to the internet.
Otherwise, try changing the way RealPlayer connects to the streaming server:
1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Click the RealPlayer logo in the upper left of the player.
3. Select Preferences.
4. Select Networks Transports from the Connection menu on the left.
5. Check the box labeled Manually Configure Transports from the right pane.
6. Click RTSP Settings.
7. Uncheck the top 3 boxes, leaving the last one checked.
8. Click OK.
9. Click OK once again.
10. Try the clip once more.
This should resolve the issue.
