Thumbnail images do not appear for downloaded videos on PC

Why doesn't the RealPlayer library display the thumbnail images for the videos I downloaded?

Solution 1: Clear your thumbnail cache.

1. Click the Windows Start button and type "disk cleanup" in the search field. Press enter.

2. Check the box next to Thumbnails and click/tap on OK.

3. Click/tap on Delete Files.

4. Disk Cleanup will now clear the thumbnail cache and close.

5. Restart your computer. The thumbnails should now appear in your RealPlayer Library.

Solution 2: Download Adobe Flash ActiveX control.

This issue can also occur if you are using Google Chrome as your primary browser and downloaded the Adobe Flash plugin for Chrome.

To resolve this, please download Adobe Flash ActiveX control using Internet Explorer. You can download it here:

After downloading the Flash ActiveX Control, you can then continue downloading videos using Chrome, and the thumbnail images will now appear in your RealPlayer Library.

If you are not able to view thumbnails in the folder on your PC where the files are saved, this is not a RealPlayer issue; however, this problem may be resolved by installing the Klite codec pack (click here to install) and then following these instructions:

XP users:
1. Open the folder that contains the videos.
2. Click View in the menu.
3. Choose Thumbnails.

Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 users:

1. Open the folder that contains the videos.
2. Click on the drop-down icon (see the example in the circle below).

3. Choose either Small Icons or Large Icons to display the thumbnails.

Note: If they are set to List or Detail, videos would never show thumbnails.
