Unfortunately, RealPlayer doesn't support SMIL files anymore. Though most Google searches indicate that RealPlayer can open this type of a file, we stopped supporting this format long ago.

Opening SMIL file to play media in RealPlayer.
I believe that RealPlayer is able to read SMIL files but when I try this, it says that additional software is needed and then that there is none available. I have just installed a clean version of RealPlayer/RealTimes so am wondering whether there is anything else that I need to do?
