line in need help

I'm trying to record line in, but there is no sound passing through my computer. I have check for updates to realplayer done that, updated my audio driver, done that. I was using realplayer  everything working fine had just finished loading a new cd through line in that I had recorded to burn my master cd. worked fine. now all of the sudden nothing goes in from my line in source. I have realplayer on my desk top and 2 laptops all 3 have the same issue. please help me resolve my problem, I just paid for realplayer again about 6 months ago so I know that isn't the issue.
