Can't convert / play .ra / .ram files
Getting an error message when trying to convert .ra or .ram music files to .mp3.
(A necessary component or codec is missing) .Changing the filextension to .rm,which usually works, does not.
Clicking on a .ra / .ram file brings on a RealPlayer needs to download new software to play this clip. However, clicking OK states that the same or newer version is already installed. By clicking OK to overinstall simply installs Realplayer without fixing the problem. I have now reloaded Realplayer seven times, including the Realtimes auto-upgrade, and just going around in circles. I sincerely need help as some of these files date from 1997, and are not found easily to replace.

Having same problem!! with opening .ra files from jazz archive http://www.redhotjazz.com/ Rplayer asks for software update, says already installed, and then reloads without a fix. Very frustrating and the only audio format for this site.

I got out my old Sony laptop loaded with Realplayer Version 1.1.5 and compared the Codec directoriy with Version 18.1.7.344. I copied seven files NOT found in the new version to the newer Codec directory. Below are the files copied, and now I can convert and play *.ra files. I didn't try any other features, as I'm not sure if they were affected. I left ALL of the newer Codec driver files
alone. The following files can be found easily on the net. I don't know what drivers do what, or if all are needed. I'm just happy to play my *.ra / *.rm files again.
14_43260.dll / amrw.dll / dnet3260.dll / 28_83260.dll / ddnt3260.dll
ra32clv1.dll

I inadvertently stated seven files. The total was SIX. I made a read.me in case I had to pull the old drivers.
