If the bellow instructions were followed correctly, the version should be 2023.2.17.0.
1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
2. Simply restart your computer after this.
3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.
Please check your version after this. You can go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer. Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab. The version number is found here.
If the number has not changed and still shows 2022.10.6.0, it means Windows is blocking the update.
Please note: These instructions won't work for older versions such as RealPlayer v.18 or older. Versions 18 or earlier have reached end of life support. -
Mine just started working again

So, I think they fixed it without us having to do anything. Having said that, when this happens I always delete and reinstall real player. Maybe it helped. These are the last instructions they sent. My downloaded was always working by then. Her it is…., Hello,
With regards to the inability to download videos, we were able to identify the root cause and our engineering team was able to resolve it. To be able to download videos again, please follow these steps.
1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
2. Simply restart your computer.
3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.
If the issue still persists, please let us know. What makes me mad is how slowly they respond to issue and they need to tell us they are working on a solution before 100 users post the issue on community.

No this doesn't work at all. I've restarted every day before bed and the thing still doesn't work. Only has a problem with YouTube and nothing else. I tried to restart with the download window still open and nothing happened, I still get the same old message. In closing I still cannot download from YouTube.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling RealPlayer? Also on my browser Microft Edge, I re did all the defaults for the settings. Another thing I did early on is go to RealPlayer, on the top left there is a drop down menu. I clicked on Feedback and created a complaint. Since then, they have been emailing me direct. Everytime it didn't work, I replied not working until it did work. Can't say this solved it, but it's working now.

Yes, I created a complaint and then I tried to re-install the whole thing, it didn't work at the time.

Hello David,
Can you please let us know the following information:
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer.
Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab.
Please provide us with the version number you see there.
Could you also provide us with a sample URL that you are unable to download and the web browser you are using? Lastly, what version of RealPlayer and Windows do you have installed?0 -
Okay, here is what worked for me, your mileage may vary. I was instructed to attempt to download a video and when it didn't work to restart my computer. Theoretically this would result in a new version of videodl being installed in the background, new version should be 2023.2.17.0. Did that, didn't happen. So I uninstalled the RealPlayer program completely. Rebooted my computer. Reinstalled Realplayer. Did not create a new account, but logged in with my existing account. Checked and videodl.exe was now at version 2023.2.17.0. Problem solved.

I think... it is a matter of getting the attention of the developers more than an actual technical problem because mine started to work again after I gave the Feedback per Mister Girson's experience. That only worked on my second try, but I was more specific on that second try and unlike my first try I did not reinstall the whole thing. I don't know why RN Support keeps telling us to restart the computer, I do that everyday and it didn't get back that way. Still I'm glad to be back.

Please follow these additional steps to resolve your issue (if you are still unable to download videos).
1. Open a Windows folder
2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Real\RealUpgrade
3. Delete all the files in this folder (Caution: Please make sure you are deleting these files correctly and not any other files in a different folder)
4. Restart PC.
5. Follow the 3 steps we originally provided again.
6. Restart PC once more. (This should update the videodl)If the issue still persists, please let us know.
Please note: RealPlayer v.18 or older versions have reached End of Life support. Please upgrade to RealPlayer 22.
