Going back to Real Player v20.1.0.313
- I tried the latest version (v22.0.2.306) of REAL Player (RP) and I didn't like it. I went back to RP version v20.1.0.313 (still have the original installation file).
- There are 2 things I don't like:
1))
When I am playing e.g. a *.MP4 or *.MP3 file then RP doesn't stop me from deleting that file. That one file then will be marked as "pending to be deleted" and deleted as soon as I close RP or open another file with RP. In RP v20.1.0.313 this file, in this case, won't be deleted at all.
2))
When I want to remove a bunch of RP files (with a program called CCleaner) then a number of files called "Data....." won't be deleted. These files are located in the path:
"C:\users\<--username-->\ Appdata\Local\Real\RealPlayer\EbWebview\Default\Cache\Cache_Data\.............. ".
Even when I want to manually delete those file then I get an error that these files are being used by a process called "MSEdgeWebview2.exe". Does RP REALLY need to use that process ??? And for what is RP using this one process ?
Or is the only solution to remove MS Edge all together ? I don't like to remove Edge because Edge is my standard webbrowser.
3))
- I am also surprised to see that RP creates A LOT OF files when I use RP. RP can easily create some say 200 or 300 MB worth of temporary files within say a week's time.
I also want to mention that I like the new feature in the latest version of RP that allows me to play a video at half the original speed or twice the original speed. But it's not good enough to use the latest version. The problems above are simply too severe.
