Converting wav file to MP3

When I try converting  a wav music file to Mp3 the real player converter tells me there is not enough disc space for conversion.   I have 272 GB of free space on My hard drive and the MP3 file at 64kbps is 35 times smaller than the original file.  Also there is no other file in the Real Player.
