default program
I set RealPlayer as the default application for .ram files, but they always go to the download folder. How do I make sure RealPlayer launches whenever I click a .ram file?

To make your .ram file to play with RealPlayer by default, please follow these steps.
- Right click on your .RAM file
- Click Open With --> Choose another app
- Select RealPlayer and check the box "Always use this app to play .ram files"

This is not about clicking the icon, it's about clicking a button that links to a .ram file that is uploaded to a website. ALL .ram's competitors (.pls, .asx, .qtl, etc.) work perfectly: the player launches. .ram fails: the file goes to my download folder. Your solution has no effect.

A RAM file is just a text file that contains a URL within it. To learn more about RAM file, please click this link.

If a website has these RAM files, it will get downloaded to your PC and you will have to play the downloaded file by opening it separately.
This is how it is designed and works.

Then .ram is completely inferior to .pls, .asx, qtl., etc. Poorly developed.

.ram is an old technology and not developed anymore.
