strange alert when trying to download videos

lately I have been trying to download videos with an external dvd reader from realplayer.  it downloads the videos about half way and then I get the alert

end of file parsing AC3 audio stream error.  I have tried numerous videos and get the same error.  I am not sure if its a realplayer problem or my external dvd reader.  playing videos is not a problem.  just downloading.  help

  Please uninstall your current version of RealPlayer and install the latest version from www.real.com.

  Once you have installed the latest version, please sign into RealPlayer to activate the Plus features.
