Downloading videos

When I try to 'download a video from a weblink' I get the 'Download a video from a URL' box, but as soon as the cursor reaches it it turns into an hourglass, and there it stays.  This has been going on for several weeks now.  Is the downloader being jammed by the content provider?

I use Firefox but the same thing happens with Edge.

videodl is a .exe file, clicking on it doesn't bring up a 'Properties' option.  Is it safe for me to open the file?

And finally... I'm logged in, why is my ID shown as 'null null'?  I think I should be told!

  RealPlayer is probably not installed properly or something in your Windows is conflicting with RealPlayer. This is most likely the cause for such behavior. Can you please reinstall RealPlayer and see if the issue is resolved?

  The reason you are showing as "null null" is because you have not entered your first and last name in your account. We just updated your account with your first and last name.

  Yup, that worked, which is odd because I'd already tried it and it didn't work that time.  Note to self:- If at first you don't succeed....
