Burning to DVD is now incredibly SLOW. Why?

I have WINDOWS 10 and have just upgraded to the newest version of REALPLAYER. The previous version burned DVDs very fast, but now that I've "upgraded" to the newest version, the top speed is only 16x instead of 32 or 48. I went under settings and there isn't even an option for faster than 16x to burn a DVD. What used to take minutes now takes hours. How can I speed the process up to what it was before I upgraded?

Burning a DVD is a time-consuming process, and can take 20 minutes to an hour even for short files (and as long as 4 hours for a full-length movie). The total time will vary depending on the speed of your PC. Even if it looks like nothing is happening, the burn may be proceeding normally. Before starting the burn, disable your screen saver; then, once burning has started, simply leave your computer alone for an hour or two, and then check back.

The burn speed should be at or above the speed of your DVD burner (for example, if your DVD burner is 16x, an 8x disc will not work unless you lower your burn speed to 8x or lower). You can use either a DVD-R or a DVD-RW disc; if the DVD-RW has content on it already, you'll be prompted to erase it as part of the burning process.

Thanks, that's the information I read when I looked through the posted articles under "DVD", however it does not apply to my situation. Until I upgraded, the DVD burner worked fine, beginning almost immediately and for a 2 hour disc, the burn would complete in 30 minutes to 45 at most. Yesterday, I had 12 videos to burn none of them over 5 minutes long, I came back an hour later it was still waiting to begin the transfer. In the past I could contact live assistance, but REAL apparently doesn't think we need that service anymore. I can assure them that until they make a consistently functioning product, we need tech help. I think the next step is get with GEEK SQUAD and see if they can figure out what went wrong with this.

I found a simple solution which consisted of just uninstalling the REAL app and re-installing it. It works like a charm now, particularly the HD format feature. Although it takes a few minutes to convert to the HD format, once that is done and you begin burning your DVD, all videos that have been converted complete the burn extremely FAST. This has been a very useful upgrade from REAL. A 2 hour DVD will complete in less than half that time if the files have been converted. Aside from that, all other functions now work as well or better than before. The trick seems to have been, in my case at least, uninstall and re-install, but I also made sure all my drivers were current.

Thanks to the REAL team for responding to my original issues even though not "live chat". I will say, now that the app has been re-installed and works properly, it has exceeded my expectations for SPEED. Well done.
