With regards to the inability to download videos, we were able to identify the root cause and our engineering team was able to resolve it. To be able to download videos again, please follow these steps.

    1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
    2. Simply restart your computer.
    3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.

If the issue still persists, please let us know.

This seems to be a new problem that is being experienced by other RealPlayer users.  When I click the RealPlayer support button, I am taken to a page with a 404 error.  Is Real addressing this issue?

Having the same problem even after checking and downloading updates. Customer Service needs to be a Whole lot better, especially for something we pay for and not just passed on the community. We don't pay them, we pay You!

    Abdul,

Please provide the website you are attempting to download from. We can test it in-house to find out what may be causing the problem.

Please note: You can't download copyright protected videos or if a website has blocked videos from being downloaded.

We don't control how websites allow their downloads to be downloaded nor do we have any way to know if they restrict. That said, YouTube videos should be downloadable as long as they are not copyright protected.

Can you please let us know the following information:

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer.
Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab.

Please provide us with the version number you see there.

I have version 22.0.4.304 showing up on Realplayer. I used to have in my A-Z program list Realplayer, the converter, the trimmer and downloader but now downloader is gone after what I thought was a simple update offered today. And I usually download in Chrome and the dropdown does not show up for any youtube videos. This happened to me maybe a couple years ago and I was able to get it fixed but cannot recall what to do. When I clicked to check for updates I did not see an option to download video downloader and that I am up to date. Need help.

Please "over-install" RealPlayer by going to www.real.com. Over-install simply means installing RealPlayer over the existing RealPlayer. When you go through the installation process, you will be prompted that RealPlayer is already installed, simply proceed with the installation when prompted.

If the issue persists, please let us know.

If the bellow instructions were followed correctly, the version should be 2023.2.17.0.

    1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
    2. Simply restart your computer after this.
    3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.

Please check your version after this. You can go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer. Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab. The version number is found here.

If the number has not changed and still shows 2022.10.6.0, it means Windows is blocking the update.

Please note: These instructions won't work for older versions such as RealPlayer v.18 or older. Versions 18 or earlier have reached end of life support.
