No DVD plug in
I've been unable to burn dvd's because the "Burn" option no longer shows up. I purchased a new external hard drive, but that didn't work. I've tried following the instructions that are posted for similar situation to no avail.
This happened several times over the years. It's always difficult for me to figure it out, so I relay on whoever will help me. Many Thanks!

RN Support,
Thank you for such a quick response!
I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find " Default Recordable Drive". So I please need help with step 4.
Thanks again!

RealPlayer always defaults to the first drive. Here are instructions to change the drive in RealPlayer's Preferences.
- Open RealPlayer.
- Click the RealPlayer logo on the top right corner and go to Preferences.
- Expand on CD and click CD Burner.
- Under Default Recordable Drive, please choose your new drive that is associated with your newer DVD drive.
- Click OK and restart RealPlayer.

Thank you again for your help.
I did exactly what you said to do. On a blank square, the same size as the one under CD Burner, this was written... "RealPlayer could not locate a burner on your computer. If you have a CD burner, please ensure that it is properly installed."
I've been burning a couple dozen DVDs a month for years on RealPlayer. This has happened 4-5 times over I can't count how many years. I purchased an upgrade to RealPlayer several times. I've only burned a handful of CDs. But I am stymied now.
I am totally relying on your skillset to help me fix this. Please, be patient with me as your try to figure this out. One last clue....I never changed anything on my PC, the DVD burned just never showed up. It used to be that when Windows would do an update, I would lose the plug-in. To the best of my knowlege, Windows didn't do an update this time.
Please, will you continue to help me with this?
Thank you!

Here is what we would like you to do to confirm if the problem is RealPlayer (software) or your DVD Drive (hardware).
1. Insert a blank DVD in your drive.
2. Go to My PC and double click your DVD drive.
If Windows says "Insert DVD" even though you have inserted a disk, it means that the DVD drive is not able to read the disk in it. So this indicates that the problem is your hardware. However, if Windows prompts you to do something with the disk as in "What do you want to do" etc..., it means that RealPlayer is not configured properly.
If the latter (RealPlayer), could you please let me know if you have more than 1 DVD drive in your PC? If the former (DVD Drive), you will need to either get in touch with your PC manufacturer or get a new DVD drive.0 -
RN Support, Once again, thank you so much for trying to help me!
This is what happened when I inserted a blank DVD....
"However, if Windows prompts you to do something with the disk as in "What do you want to do" etc..., it means that RealPlayer is not configured properly."
Also, I have an external hard drive. I bought a new one, just in case it was my hard drive. The Plug In to burn DVDs still will not appear. I restarted the computer several times, I've signed in and out of RealPlayer several times, both to no avail.
***I'm afraid to un-install RealPlayer and then re-install it, as this wipes out my saved downloads. I know because that has happened in the past each time I un-stalled-re-installed it.
Please don't give up on trying to help me. I am always so grateful for your help and support.
What is my next step?
Many thanks,
Terry
