trimming video with extension of mp4

Why am I getting an error "file parsing error" whenever I attempt to trim a video with an extension of mp4.  I was able to trimmed those videos in the pass but lately I am having problem even with installation of the Real Player 2020.

  It is possible your Windows is missing some codecs or something went wrong with the installation of RealPlayer. 

  First step is to reinstall RealPlayer and see if you are able to trim. If the issue persists, installing the K-Lite codec pack often helps to fix issues related to playback/trim etc. You can install it from the link below:

  http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

  After installing the codec, restart your computer and try the videos again.
