Realplayer cannot play .rm audio files. How on earth can this be?

I just installed the latest realplayer but it cannot play the old .rm audio files I have.

Every time i open a file, Realplayer pops up stating

"Realplayer Needs to Download new Software to play this clip"

The it downloads stuff and then when I accept etc, it says that the same or a newer version of Realplayer is already installed. I can continue or not, it all goes in the same loop.

 

This on Windows 10

Realplayer version is 20.1.0.313

  An RM file is a very old file format that is not being used anymore and is not compatible with RealPlayer any longer.

  How can we convert old files like that to a newer file type?

  There are many free websites online that support older formats. You can Google them.
