New Computer MKV Files

Just purchased new computer installed with windows 10. Installed Realplayer will not play mkv. files. It says General Error Has Occurred. My old computer which has Windows 7, plays these mkv files flawlessly. What am I missing, or is it this horrible Windows 10?

  Perhaps your Windows 10 doesn't have all the codecs required to play videos.

  Installing the K-Lite codec pack often helps to fix issues related to playback. You can install it from the link below:

  http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

  After installing the codec, restart your computer and try playing the videos again.
