With regards to the inability to download videos, we were able to identify the root cause and our engineering team was able to resolve it. To be able to download videos again, please follow these steps.

    1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
    2. Simply restart your computer.
    3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.

If the issue still persists, please let us know.

Seems like this happens every couple of years, then BAM!... out of nowhere, RealDownloader craps out on us.  I have the PREMIUM version, but this failure makes it far less than "premium" when I'm trying to get work done.  I wonder how many days we will have to wait this time before we get a fix.  It always seems to happen at the most inopportune time.  That AVG browser downloader is starting to look a bit more intriguing right about now.

RealDownloader was working yesterday morning with YT and has stopped working in the evening.
However, at the same time some online downloaders still work with YT.
Also RealDownloader is actually still working with FB videos.

I think YouTube have changed something

UPDATE:  The fix did not work for me.  I'm running several browsers (BRAVE, FIREFOX, AVG, CHROME, EDGE) and this fix has not worked with any of them.  I have even re-installed RealPlayer and repeated the process with the fresh install, but I keep getting the same error.  I'm running the latest version of WIN 10 (Version 22H2).  There were some WIN10 updates just a couple of days ago, so maybe something in the updates is killing download function.

These updates dropped on 15 FEB 2023

    Windows 10 Cumulative Update (KB5022729)

    .NET Cumulative Update (KB4023057)

Within 2 days of these updates, RealPlayer started acting up.  I'm just throwing out some guesses here.

If the bellow instructions were followed correctly, the version should be 2023.2.17.0.

    1. Attempt to download any video of your choice (You will still have the same error).
    2. Simply restart your computer after this.
    3. Upon restarting your computer, the Downloader will be updated in the backend and your downloads should start working.

Please check your version after this. You can go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer. Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab. The version number is found here.

If the number has not changed and still shows 2022.10.6.0, it means Windows is blocking the update.

Please note: These instructions won't work for older versions such as RealPlayer v.18 or older. Versions 18 or earlier have reached end of life support.

Not sure how Windows is blocking the software from updating, but I'm actively trying to resolve this issue on my end.  I checked the "Unblock" box in the Properties dialog box for the RealPlayer application before I attempted the install.

This is what I have just completed:

    1.  Uninstalled RealPlayer and cleaned broken shortcuts and cleaned old registry entries, turned the firewall OFF, and then RESTARTED.
    1.  INSTALLED RealPlayer with the firewall OFF.
    1.  Followed the "fix" instructions listed above, then checked to see if there was any change.

THERE WAS NO CHANGE.  Still ver. 2022.10.6.0

When will an updated application ver. 2023.2.17.0 be released?  If Windows is apparently blocking the software from completing the update, then users should be supplied with a complete update application to install on the local machine.  If there is a way to prevent Windows from blocking the update, feel free to let me know.  Other than that, RealDownloader is nothing but a brick for me right now.  I'll change my default browser to EDGE and see if that has anything to do with it, but I doubt it.

I concur with Shave null. I have turned off firewall, have restarted computer, and I still have version 2022.10.6.  When I go to realplayer and request update I get: you have the current version.  Please fix.

Please follow these additional steps to resolve your issue.

    1. Open a Windows folder
    2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Real\RealUpgrade
    3. Delete all the files in this folder (Caution: Please make sure you are deleting these files correctly and not any other files in a different folder)
    4. Restart PC.
    5. Follow the 3 steps we originally provided again.
    6. Restart PC once more. (This should update the videodl)

If the issue still persists, please let us know.

Please note: RealPlayer v.18 or older versions have reached End of Life support. Please upgrade to RealPlayer 22.

UPDATE:  This does NOT fix the issue on my end.

Tried it multiple times with a fresh download of RealPlayer.  I uninstalled RealPlayer.  I even deleted every Real folder I could find (except the folders containing my Real videos and music), even the Real folders in the AppData\Local and AppData\Roaming folders.  After deleting those files I restarted the PC.  Then I loaded a fresh copy of RealPlayer.  I performed the "3 steps" and restarted the PC.  I then deleted all the files in RealUpgrade folder, restarted the PC, followed the "3 steps" originally provided, restarted the PC.  Basically, I tried to burn RealPlayer to the ground on my PC and then went in with a fresh build following all of the steps that were supposed to get it to properly update.

    The issue still persists.

All of the relevant files and executables in the Real folders are still ver. 2022.10.6.0

Could there be problem with a registry entry or 3rd party software conflict?  I'm just throwing out some more possibilities here.  Feel free to let me know if there are any other solutions that I can apply on my end.

    Thanks for the assistance.
