RealPlayer Plus (Converter) v22.0.2.306 Parsing Error When Converting

I recorded analog home movie to PC, Roxio Easy VHS to DVD saved file as MPEG.  I can play and hear the home movie in RealPlayer Plus v22.0.2.306.  I attempted to use RealPlayer Converter to convert to MP4, I tried to add the file for converting, RP Converter gives "File Parsing Error.  Codecs required for this input file processing are not found."  What codecs am I missing if RP can play the file without any issue?  My RP plays the MPEG and MP4 files without any problems.  RP has dozens of installed components.   After hunting for a solution, I have not found an answer, other than a recommendation to install a suspicious codec (K-Lite) from some unknown, old FTP looking website.  I am not in the habit of installing files from the web from sites I do not know or trust.  What needs to be done to enable RP to convert the MPEG to MP4?

  It would help to know the codecs used in the existing file. Roxio has probably saved the file with certain codecs that are not compatible with RealPlayer converter. Would you know how to check that?

  It uses MPEG2 or h.264 codec to record the analog audio/video from the camcorder.
