Downloading videos

I used to use Internet Explorer as my provider. I used to see a message "download this video" and the playing video downloaded.

Now that IE is no more, on Firefox or Edge I get a drop down Realplayer box but the message I get is invariably "no video found" even thought there is clearly a video playing.

I see no point in updating my Realplayer if I cannot use it for downloading.

What am I doing wrong?

  Can you please let us know the following information:

  Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer.
  Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab.

  Please provide us with the version number you see there.

  Could you also provide us with a sample URL that you are unable to download and the web browser you are using? Lastly, what version of RealPlayer and Windows have you installed?

  Thank you for your reply.

  I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer but there is no videodl there.

  I am using Firefox and duckduckgo web browser.

  My version of Realplayer is 18.1.20.206

  I am using Windows 10.

  With regards to downloading videos, RealPlayer v.18 has reached end of life support. When this product was made, it used the technologies available at that time. As technology changes so frequently these days, what was developed long ago may not be feasible to continue supporting after a while. You should also be aware that some of the features are dependent on other factors. For example - With RealPlayer, you can download videos from websites like YouTube.com etc... From time to time, they (the websites) keep changing their technologies which breaks our ability to download videos. We will have to re-engineer our downloader to be compatible with their technologies. So in the future, if YouTube decides to use a technology that is completely different from the technologies we use in RealPlayer, we are forced to make changes and may not be able to develop or maintain older version anymore. These are the reasons we end support for a version and set end of life to such products.
