missing codec message on .wav files
Attempts to play a standard .wav file on v22 produces the error message: The file contains an unsupported audio format. The needed codec is not installed on your system. More information is available at RealNetworks Customer Support Website. Clicking the More Info box produces an "Unable to contact Technical Support for further information" message. Standard .wav files are listed as supported by Real Player. These files play just fine on Windows Media Player. This suggests that Real Player is simply a buggy mess.

While .WAV files are compatible with RealPlayer, it is possible your .WAV file contains codecs built into it that are not compatible with RealPlayer (as the message suggests). Here is an alternate solution for you. Try converting this .WAV file to MP3 using RealPlayer Converter. If it successfully converts, try playing it. If it doesn't convert, it most likely means the codecs in the file are incompatible with RealPlayer.
