difficult downloading

I have been unable to download videos off of Youtube. I can probably download one of every twenty or more and they are usually 240p; occasionally 480p. I have had difficulty in the past and had to remove and reinstall Realplayer to try to get it to work better.  Will Real Player Premium solve this issue or will I still not be able to download most videos?

  We have noticed that YouTube is blocking videos from being downloaded at certain (random) times. There are other video hosting websites where you can still download videos from which suggests that the Downloader is still working and not broken.

  We don't control websites hosting videos so there is very little we can do to force our Downloader to download videos. We will continue to investigate if there are other ways to download videos from these popular websites but at this time our only request is to be patient so these websites allow videos to be downloaded again.

  However, if you are unable to download videos from a different website, please copy and paste the website address (URL) of the video that you are unable to download.

  I went to Vimeo and had some spotty results although their selection is limited. If there are any other video websites that can be suggested, I'm all ears.

  Why are we being told to wait until Youtube allows us to download stuff?

  Realplayer has addressed this problem successfully a number of times in the past by updating or finding workarounds.

  Is there going to be any attempt to do so this time, or are we at Youtube's mercy?

  I looked up the official Youtube response and it is that we shouldn't be downloading anything there, period.

  Isn't life tough enough at this time without having this small enjoyment taken away from us as well?  Shame on Youtube for hitting us with this right now.

  I stopped using REAL a couple years ago. Only use it occasionally now. I have a different program that's better. Sometimes it's glitchy too but it's better than this crappy program
