Trimmer and playlist not working

I had Realplayer 18 but re-installed 16 because I could not save a playlist. Now, in realplayer 16, I get a white screen when I try to trim a video. I see these issues don't seem to be resolved unless you switch back and forth between versions to get a player that does what you want. I had paid for the service but cancelled right away as nothing seems to work. I wish the support team would read some of these posts and really fix the issue. It would be nice to have a saved playlist and a trimmer working in only the latest version. I do understand that there is no support for the old version, so what is the solution if you have the newer version.

  In the latest version of RealPlayer you can create a playlist, however you will not be able to save a playlist. Trimmer works with the latest version.

  As RealNetworks makes new products available to customers, it is not possible to continue supporting legacy and historic products, including:
  
  - RealPlayer 16, 15, 14, SP and prior version

  Product development has stopped, and no updates or security patches will be released for these product versions.
  
  Many problems you might have using these older products can be resolved by upgrading to a current version, as long as your computer meets the current version's system requirements.
