A RAM file is actually a text file that contains information, such as the address (URL) of a RealMedia clip that exists on a server on the Internet. A RAM file contains instructions that direct RealPlayer to the actual location of a music or video clip on the Internet.

Before playing a RAM file from your hard disk (or a playlist), make sure that you have connected your computer to the Internet. Since you are unable to play it, go back to the source to verify the URL.

If you were trying to play (or replay) a live broadcast, the broadcast may have ended and the file for it is no longer available on that website. If the broadcast was streamed from a particular website, you can search that site for archived copies of the broadcast. Not all sites archive their broadcasts, however.

Still if the issue persists, most likely, the problem is with the specific stream or page you are trying to access. Contact the providers of the website you are trying to reach to alert them of the problem.

I hope this information has helped.
