Which blank DVD should I buy?

What blank DVD should I buy to convert an MP4 into a DVD that will play in my DVD player for the TV? I don't know which brand is best, how to tell how many hours you can record on it, and how to make sure it will play on the TV. I've never done this before. Do I need to convert the MP4 file before I burn it? I've obviously never done anything like this before and I just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks!

  1- There is no need to convert the mp4 files to burn to a DVD.

  Thank you! I had heard though that the mp4 would play on your computer but not your TV. I wanted to burn one for my DVD player. Will that still work? Thanks!
