I have created a merged file form a current .mp4 and a current .srt via vlc.

This resultant file has come up with the error 'MF_E_TOPO_CODEC_NOT_FOUND'

I have tried downloading the suggested K-Lite codec pack, but Norton has reported this has security issues. Please advise
