Complaint I'd send to RealPlayer
Subject: RealPlayer 25.0.2.304 – Playback controls and volume control suddenly broken
I am reporting a problem with RealPlayer 25.0.2.304 (Win32).
RealPlayer was working normally until this morning. I did not change any RealPlayer settings or make any changes to my computer.
The following problems suddenly appeared:
1. Playback controls now disappear.
Previously, the playback controls remained visible at the bottom of the RealPlayer window while playing music. Now they disappear and only reappear when I move the mouse over the bottom of the player.2. The volume control is no longer functioning correctly.
Windows' normal volume control works properly, so this is not a Windows audio problem. The RealPlayer volume control itself is not operating correctly.3. The RealPlayer interface is incorrectly positioning/covering the volume control.
When the Queue/playlist panel is displayed on the right side of the player, the volume control is partially hidden/covered by the player layout. When I remove the Queue panel, I can see more of the volume control, but part of it is still positioned behind/under another part of the interface. This is clearly different from the way RealPlayer has behaved previously. I have used RealPlayer with this same setup and the playback controls have always remained visible at the bottom of the player, and the volume control was fully accessible.
I have already:
- Confirmed that RealPlayer reports that it is up to date.
- Confirmed that I am running RealPlayer 25.0.2.304 (Win32).
- Completely closed RealPlayer and ended its processes in Windows Task Manager.
- Restarted RealPlayer.
- Confirmed that Windows' normal volume control works correctly.
The problem remains.
This appears to be a user-interface/layout regression in RealPlayer rather than a Windows audio problem.
Please investigate this in RealPlayer 25.0.2.304. I would particularly like to know whether a recent update changed the behavior of the playback controls and caused the volume control to be incorrectly positioned or clipped.
I have attached a screenshot showing exactly what the RealPlayer interface looks like while the problem is occurring.
Please do not simply tell me to reinstall RealPlayer. The program was working correctly until this problem suddenly appeared, and I do not want to risk losing my existing music library and playlists.
