Real player/real times appliation won't start -side by side configuration error

I have Real player Premium and I have logged on.. I received a notice to update and silly me, I opened it. Is this a virus?

When loading update, which froze at 50% finishing. Error message reads: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.  I have done that but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I need Support to provide me with a simple fix.  Why can't Support simply provide an email support so I can get the application to work.

  To resolve this issue, first uninstall RealPlayer from Control Panel - for instructions, see:

  Uninstall and reinstall RealPlayer on Windows

  Next, delete the RealPlayer application folders - see: Delete the RealPlayer application folders (clean uninstall)

  Once done, restart your PC and download a fresh copy of RealPlayer by visiting: http://www.real.com/

  I hope this helps. If the issue persists, please try these solutions: "Something has gone wrong while running msiexec"
