An .mp4 codec for RP, where do I find it?

It seems like more and more Video clips need an .mp4 codec. 

Where is this codec for my version of RP located, or is that an

extra cost option?

  There is a further problem. 

  I tried using RP to view a clip from the Internet that was in the Play List, and now RP is stuck and I can't open it.  Indications are that RP doesn't know what it should do, and or the s/w has been changed by this move.

  Tried closing RP but didn't help.

  The next step will be a reboot.

  You can try uninstalling the program as explained here:
  https://customer.real.com/hc/en-gb/articles/204040013-Uninstall-and-reinstall-RealTimes-or-RealPlayer-on-Windows

  
  After that reinstall RealPlayer using the alternate(full) installation file. To do so, please follow these steps:
  
  - Go to: http://www.real.com/ and download RealPlayer.
  - Run the downloaded installation file and wait until the following window appears and close it.

  

  - Click the "Alternate Installer" button. This will download the full installation file, which is larger.

  

  
  - Run the downloaded full installation file and follow the steps to install RealPlayer.
