File >> Details has not worked for at least 3 years
It used to be possible to edit the displayed details of a video by clicking the details that appear above the Clip Position bar, or by File >> Details, or by Ctrl I. These are all ignored. This is not a new problem.

First select a video then go to File > Details or right-click over the video and go to Details. Here you will be only able to edit the video caption.

Virgilio, I'm glad this works for you but here are my results for .rm and .avi videos:
1. Ctrl I: Nothing happens
2. Click Details button: Nothing happens
3. File > Details: It's not grayed out, but nothing happens
4. Click on detail display above Clip Position bar: Nothing happens
5. "right-click over the video and go to Details": Details is not an option in the resulting menu

After re-installing RealPlayer and you continue to experience the same issue, please provide the following:
1- Righ-click over a video in the Library, take a screen shot of the menu showing the options that appear after the right-click and send it to me.

Please right-click over the video in Library section and not on Now Playing.

I see. The reason that #1-#4 below have not worked is that a change was made some years ago that the video had to be in the library in order for the Details window to appear. When that is the case, any of #1-#5 below will bring up the Details window, and any change to the Caption will also be written to the file if for example it is a .RM file.
Would it be possible to restore the circa-2014 behavior where the Details of a playing video that is not in the library and was played either by opening the video in Windows Explorer or by using the recently-played list in RealPlayer can be viewed and edited? There's a lot of handy information there for people who run RealPlayer without modifying the library.

At this point this is by design in the latest version. However, I will pass along your feedback to the appropriate department.
