The RealJukebox Format is stored in the RMX format and is affixed with the RMX extension, and was used by the RealPlayer program. These RMX files are generally classified as audio files that contain audio data played only through a security key or linked to a particular computer.

Please be aware that as of October 31, 2011, Rhapsody/RealNetworks no longer support certain music files purchased before July 2008. This means that everything you've purchased from Rhapsody or RealNetworks Music Store prior to July 2008 in a .rax or .rmx format needs to be burned to an audio CD. Once you take this small step, you can continue to play them on your audio CD or rip them to any format you desire and play them on your PC.

While this reply may help some I am afraid I do not understand. How can I burn to a CD when the files continue to say that they are specific to a particular machine (which has long since been scrapped).

I am sorry to be a little vague but I am a silver surfer

The songs that you purchased are RMX files and they are from Rhapsody/RealNetworks Music Store. Please be aware that as of October 31, 2011, Rhapsody/RealNetworks no longer support certain music files purchased before July 2008. These RMX files are generally classified as audio files that contain audio data played only through a security key or linked to a particular computer. In October 2010 RealNetworks notified customers that we will no longer support encrypted (RAX) files.

I understand that they are fixed to a certain machine. This has been clear to me from the start. The first answer mentioned saving them then playing from a CD. The was not addressed in your last answer. I understand you have left customers without support on items they purchased but if there is a way to recover them surely you could help explain how?

Thank you so much for your unhelpful reply, I suppose I should not be surprised that you cannot be bothered to help.. How long before you stop supporting your current offerings?

I'm sorry that we can't help you with this issue now. As my colleague stated, in October 2010 RealNetworks sent email to all customers who had purchased rax and rmx files, letting them know that support for these formats was being discontinued and they should back the files up to CD. If this email did not reach you, I am sorry.
