I am having similar issues as well. I also tried downloading files by entering URL address directly into Realplayer (icon at the top, file, open file) with very little success.
I've already tried the following:
updating Realplayer
following the steps you had about going to Youtube
uninstalling and reinstalling Realplayer
Nothing worked. Please advise.

Can you please do the following and let us know the version of videodl.exe
1. Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer (Folder)
2. Look for a file named videodl.exe and right click the file
3. Click the Details tab and let us know the Product version
Please note: If the version is not 2019.01.17, it means that you didn't follow the previously mentioned instructions or something didn't work right. In any case, can you please confirm?
Can you also go to C:\ProgramData\Real\RealUpgrade and let us know all the files and folders you see there? If possible, can you attach the file named RealUpgrade_18_1.xml and send it back to us, please?
