after sending my pc to CURRY'S/PCWORLD and they sent it off to UK with a note saying that the keyboard/mouse is faulty the tech repair guy in UK said it was a corrupted operating system they proceeded to reformat the HDD resulting in everything on the HDD including all my files and programs being wiped I am left with a new computer that is a year old and not a sign of any of my files or programs . I have spent the last 8 days trying to get all my files and programs back ,but I have been told that I will have to pay to get some of my programs back . Talk about being blackmailed to get my programs back . At the moment I have a problem , when I try and play a video of some CHRISTMAS music on real player it just hangs there and does nothing ,but as I try and leave REAL PLAYER I hear a quick snatch of audio from my choice of video .The last contact with REAL PLAYER I have is from THUR 7-4-2016 when I was upgrading to REAL PLAYER PLUS 18 for €22.50 using the password ,PLAYERPOWER .As I assume that I will have to buy the REAL PLAYER PLUS 18 again I was trying to reregister but I was told that I was already in the system and as I was trying to reregister they were closing the system to me .I am left in the lurch as I want to use the service ,but I locked out of the system .H E L P …..

    Shaun,

It is quite possible that the disk you are trying to play is either corrupted or having a file format that RealPlayer is not compatible with. Can you please confirm what kind of disk this is?

In reply to realCS. Until recently realPlayer was playing videos, both music and video - both mp4 file format, both from my library or when opened directly from disc via File, Open menu route. Note that the files run okay when opened in Widows media player, which I think demonstrates that the problem does not lie with a disc or format problem.

    Shaun,

Does this disk contain the same MP4 files that you were able to play previously?

In the meanwhile, please follow the instructions from the below link to resolve your issue.

    https://customer.real.com/hc/en-us/articles/220342848-Delete-the-RealPlayer-application-folders-clean-uninstall-

Please note: If you have any playlists created, you will have to recreate them.

In answer to your opening question - yes these files are the same mp4 files as those I used to be able to play.

As your latest communication suggested: I could not use Control Panel to uninstall realPlayer, however after following your instructions I successfully uninstalled realPlayer and subsequently reinstalled it successfully.

However the situation remains unchanged. I can play a video via File Open, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5XWH3rtDbU. But realPlayer hangs whenever I try to open a video directly: either by attempting to directly open it from windows file explorer or via the File Open Browse route within realPlayer or via the icons in the library display from within realPlayer. Note it also hangs when I try to open a video downloaded via realPlayer downloader.
