can not burn a dvd

I can not burn a dvd, a message appears that the decoder I am using can not decode the downloads or videos that I am trying to copy. how can I download a newer decoder?

  If you are still unable to burn DVD's, please provide the following information:
  
  • What does the error message say?
  • What is the file format?
  • Is this happening to all Videos or just with a particular one?

  • Do you have any security software installed (Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc.)?

  states DVD needs cleaning even after this has been done. Shows message "invalid operation" or "invalid prospect type".

  Are you able to play the DVD with other media players? This sounds more a problem with the Disk or the DVD drive than a media player.
