RealNetworks takes precautions to ensure our software is clear of viruses. It is safe to install RealTimes and RealPlayer when you download it from http://www.real.com or using the "Check for Update" function in the RealPlayer itself. That said, our engineers are looking into this issue as we have seen a few such reports.

In the meanwhile, here is a workaround to install RealPlayer.

    1. Download RealPlayer installer from www.real.com
    2. Run the downloaded installer.
    3. When you see "Welcome to RealPlayer" dialogue, click X or Cancel to exit.
    4. You will be prompted to click Alternate Installer. Click that.
    5. This will download the full installer of RealPlayer. Double clicking that will bypass the error message and install RealPlayer.

Here is the screenshot of the alternate installer.

I'm having the same problem. Running bitdefender total security software.

    Please advise.

We have already asked BitDefender to whitelist the said file. While they do so, have you tried the suggestions provided earlier?

I tried using the workaround above. Bitdefender shut it down fast! It is blocking AU_setup_24.0.1.306.exe, rndlp.exe, and dllhost.exe.
