We resolved this a couple of weeks ago.

RealPlayer 24 users: Simply reinstall to get the latest downloader

RealPlayer 22 users: Please check for updates. Very important! Uncheck "New RealPlayer 24" and click Others and select VideoDownloader to install just the VideoDownloader.

What error message do you get when you download?

In the meanwhile, can you please let us know the following information:

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Real\RealPlayer.
Right click on videodl and click Properties and then the Details tab.

Please provide us with the version number you see there.

    Raymond,

You should still be able to download videos with this version. What error message do you get when you download a video? Do you notice that the download progress goes all the way till the end and then it shows "0 bytes" or something to that effect and then throw the error?

It's strange every time when we both tried to download there were no orange flashing on the downloader tab but sometimes have and sometimes don't have.

I didn't see any error messages along while me and my sister using the Real Player Downloader.

Once the downloader working after half day then the next day will be not unable to download again, then will need to awaited until the orange flashing on the downloader tab returned.

    Jeremy,

Go ahead and attempt to download a video until you get the "Unable to download" message.

    1. Click the RealPlayer Downloader logo from the top left corner and go to Preferences.
    2. See if you have a download path available. If it is blank, then that is the root cause of the problem. Click Browse and select "Videos\RealPlayer Downloads" as the path where you want your videos to be saved.
    3. If you see a download path already there, change it to a folder (create a folder on your desktop) and change the path to this folder.
    4. Try to download a video and let me know what happens.

As of today (May 22, 2025) I am again unable to download YouTube videos with RealPlayer Downloader.

I see the header on the RealPlayer support page saying that "YouTube made some changes (yet again, yesterday)" and that the downloading will work again if RealPlayer is downloaded from www.real.com and over-installed over the existing version.  I have done that and the result is still the same when I attempt to download a video from YouTube.  When I click on the tab to download the video, RealPlayer searches for the video, does not find it, and returns the "RealPlayer cannot download videos on this page" message.  I have also shut down and restarted my computer with no change in the result.

RealPlayer Version 24.0.3.312, Distribution T24END01 is installed on my computer, which runs Windows 11.

    Please advise.

We just noticed that YouTube has made changes again, which has temporarily broken our downloader. While we don’t control these updates, we’re actively working on a fix and will post an update here soon.

I will get back to you as soon as we have resolved it by re-engineering the downloader.
