Real player not working

I get an error message saying "not compatible with dvd disk".  I have a blank dvd.  This is not working and i cant find help.  I just need to burn a short 3 min. segment.

  It worked 2 times and then it is not working at all.  I either want my money back or I want it fixed.

  Can you please confirm that the DVD disk is a regular DVD disk and not a Bluray disk?
