"Unable to download" large video files

I'm having trouble downloading large video files. The downloader appears to be trying to pull the file in, and indeed the blue bar eventually goes nearly all the way to the end. But just as it's about to close the deal, I get an "unable to download" message. I've tried on both Internet Explorer and Chrome, and I know my net connection is OK. Small files still work fine. I also don't think I'm dealing with files that are encrypted to prevent downloads; normally those show an unusually small file size, seem to download instantaneously, then don't work on the desktop.

  I've had that problem before. What I usually do is refresh the web page. Don't close anything out, just refresh it with the video you want to download still showing.
