Terrible playback quality of downloaded videos despite Plus upgrade

I have tried the free version of real player for some time on my HP laptop and accepted the lower quality playback as it was for free. A few days ago I upgraded to PLUS specifically to gain the superior playback. There is no difference, in fact many videos seem even worse blurry, fuzzy certainly nowhere near the sharp images I expected when compared to the originals online.

I often use my laptop for presentations and playback videos created on another desktop so am happy with playback/graphics quality for videos, it's just realplayer downloads that are a problem.

I have looked at the standard answers and Yes I am signed in to plus.

I have checked all the possible adjustments and yes all my drivers are up to date.

Yes I have de-installed, re-installed and signed in and out several times.

So please can anyone help. What am I missing?

  If we understand correctly, the problem only happens with your downloaded videos, correct? Can you please play the same video with a different media player like Windows Media Player and let us know how the playback quality is?

  Hi, I've just tried playback of 2 downloaded videos in windows media player and the quality is just as bad in the windows player.

  If that is the case, something else is going on. It could be that your computer is missing some codecs. Can you please attach a screenshot of the playback in RealPlayer? It would help us understand better.

  Thanks for the advice so far. I'm testing out real player on a desktop today, then hope to compare the quality of the same downloads with my laptop this evening. I'll  send a screenshot later when I've done this.
