Running Older Educational DVD

I have an older DVD from an equipment manufacturer that I would like to convert to mp4 files.  It originally called for RealPlayer 7 to be installed to run it.  I downloaded the latest version of RealPlayer but I get only audio.  It appears the presentation is a series of slides that accompany the audio.  I ran the "Convert" feature within RealPlayer but it does not convert the video to ,mp4 and run it either.  I also tried "Handbrake"  but it does not recognize the file type.  Is it possible for me to convert these files?

  You can't convert DVDs to MP4 using our RealPlayer. You can only burn MP4 videos into a DVD.
