does formating make you lose all your realplayer files?

I need to format and reset my pc due to maintenance but I do not with to lose all my libraries, videos and files that I have on realplayer, would formating my pc make me lose everything?

  All your videos and files are stored in your PC's hard disk. If you format your hard disk, it will erase everything you currently have. It is highly recommended that you backup your files to an external drive before formatting your PC. Once you have formatted, transfer the files back from your external drive to your newly formatted PC. When installing RealPlayer, you can set preferences in RealPlayer to add files to its library based on where you are storing them.

  Please note: If you have any playlist currently created with RealPlayer, you will have to recreate them.
