Realdownloader Convert to HD crashes Windows 10

I've been having a recurring issue where my Windows 10 desktop just suddenly powers off without warning.  After carefully tracking the problem and what my PC was doing at the time, it appears to happen right after downloading a video, while it's in the process of converting to HD.  I'm not sure if it's putting an abnormally high load on my CPU or video card, but the fans suddenly speed up while this is processing and after 10-20 secs of high speed fans it just turns off.  Powering on the PC allows restart without errors.
