Runtime error! Abnormal program termination

I am using the latest version of Real Player 18. something on a Windows 7 professional PC but it does not want to play the mp4 files recorded from my 'phone. They play fine on my phone. But on Real Player the C++ error comes up and the video just hangs up showing the length of the clip correctly but just not playing either sound or video image. I have deleted Real Player and re-installed with the same result. I have a screen shot which I have attached below. Any advice would be much appreciated. The PC runs on a AMD II x 4 810 processor rated at 2.60 GHz with 6GB RAM

It appears that one of the 2 things are causing this problem.

  1. Bad installation of RealPlayer.
  2. Your Windows is missing certain codecs.

Please note: If you have any playlists created, you will have to recreate them.

To make sure your Windows is not missing any codecs, here are some tips.

Installing the K-Lite codec pack often helps to fix issues related to playback. You can install it from the link below:

After installing the codec, restart your computer and try playing the videos again.

Lastly, please make sure you have all of your Windows updates installed.
